Château Le Mas de Montet is set in 130 acres of parkland and ancient woodland, bordered by the River Dronne. This is where the Périgord Vert and the South Charente meet, a delightful blend of rolling hills, forest and waterways. Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de la France', is just five minutes away. The castle has undergone 3 years of renovation works to be brought up to date and offer even more modern bathrooms.
The stylish decor is made up of a unique collection of objets d’art and furniture, and each room has its own character and style. The curtains and bed-hangings are made using fabrics from fabric traders like Osborne & Little, Zoffany, Titley & Marr and Sanderson.

All children are welcome. All children under 2 years are charged EUR 15.00 per night and person for cots. All older children or adults are charged EUR 35.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 3. Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 2.
Reservations are confirmed with your credit card number. Cancellations must be received within 24 hours of check-in or a fee of 100% of the total booking value will be charged against your card.
The 10 suites and bedrooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the castle. They all feature unique design and furnishings and they offer beautiful views overlooking the park or garden.
Most of the rooms have 4-poster beds. Every bed is made up of luxuriously pocketed spring mattresses, fine Egyptian cotton bed linen, and duvets.
The contemporary bathrooms are equipped with bright white Villeroy and Boch fittings, luxurious toiletries such as Essenza Di Zegna, by Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna, or Pure White Indulgence, from The White Company. Sumptuous Velour bathrobes and complimentary slippers are also included.
La Suite Mitterrand is the hotel's largest suite with a super-king-size 4-poster bed. A salon suite with marble fireplace complements a separate study (or dressing room) area. The marble bathroom contains a double-ended bath, separate walk-in shower and twin basins. Exceptional 'Essenza Di Zegna' toiletries by Ermenegildo Zegna are included. The hotel was frequently used by Président Mitterrand.
The 'Deluxe' rooms are all larger than the standard selection. Each contains either a king-sixe 4-poster bed or extra wide twin beds. A bath with over-shower is included, except in one room which has a double-ended bath and hand shower. Elegant 'Pure White Indulgence' toiletries from The White Company are included.
The hotel's Junior Suites are among the largest rooms. Each includes either a super-king-size or king-size 4-poster bed. Exceptional 'Essenza Di Zegna' toiletries by Ermenegildo Zegna await you in the room.
Château Le Mas de Montet’s unique position allows it to draw on a rich gastronomic heritage and the fine local produce of the Périgord and the Charente regions, both of which are complemented by the world-class wines of the Bordeaux region and the increasingly excellent Bergerac wines.
You can enjoy delicious gourmet cuisine and a 4-course meal that changes every day in the refined setting of the dining room.
Please kindly reserve dinner at least 24 hours in advance and by midday at the latest.
We are more than happy to cater for special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. This service is subject to at least 48 hours notice. For arrivals after 20:00, the chef can put together a light supper (at an additional cost) which can be served until 22:00, with prior notice.
By car:
Château Le Mas de Montet is clearly signposted off the D20 road between Aubeterre-sur-Dronne and Ribérac. GPS coordinates are 45°16'24 N / 0°13'14 E.
From Paris and the Channel Ports (the North):
- Take the A10 to Poitiers (south), then the N10 to Angoulême (south).
- Turn off at the St Michel / Libourne junction (also signposted for the hospital).
- Follow signs towards Libourne until your arrival on the outskirts of Montmoreau.
- Follow signs to Aubeteere-sur-Dronne. At Aubeterre follow signs to Ribareac.
- The château is clearly signposted after 4 km, off to the left.
From Bordeaux, south-west France and Green Spain (the South / South-West):
- Take the A89, leaving at exit 11 ('Coutras').
- Turn right at the roundabout and enter St Médard.
- Take a left turn in the town, signposted 'La Roche Chalais'.
- On the north side of La Roche Chalais take the right turn signposted 'St Aulaye'.
- In St Aulaye, take the left turn signposted 'Aubeterre'. At Aubeterre follow signs to Ribarac.
- The château is clearly signposted after 4 km, off to the left.
From Bergerac (the South East):
- Travel north to Mussidan and follow signs north towards Riberac.
- Drive straight through central Riberac and at the roundabout turn left, signposted 'Aubeterre / Royan'.
- Continue on the D20 towards Aubeterre (ignore signs for Petit-Bersac).
- The château is clearly signposted off the D20, to the right, 12 km outside Riberac.
From the East:
- Take the A89 autoroute exiting after Périgueux, at the St Astier exit.
- Take the D43 road in a north-westerly direction towards 'Aubeterre-sur-Dronne'.
- At the end of the D43 road, in St Antoine Cumond, turn right at the T-junction.
- The château is clearly signposted to the right after 1 km in the direction of Riberac.
